Preservation Goals

The goals of the Evergreen Manor House Preservation Committee are the following:

  • To preserve this major asset of Evergreen Country Club for future use as an income producer, such as a bed and breakfast, conference center, etc.
  • To maintain the character of the neighborhood and maintain home values; The Manor House is a landmark for the community.
  • To preserve the structure for its historic significance. The Evergreen Manor House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is listed by Prince William County as a Designated Cultural Resource.
  • How we are accomplishing these goals:

  • Conducted a survey of the exterior; generate repair estimates, etc.
  • Investigating raising money, accepting contributions, etc through fund raising events, mailings, website, etc. We are investigating working through the Haymarket Historical Foundation to establish a 501 (c)(3) preservation fund.
  • Investigate the availability of preservation resources at the local, state, and national level. Get the historical groups and preservation societies on-board, enlist local politicians, Civil War groups, etc.
  • Research Evergreen's history to bolster its significance and educate the members/public on the historical significance of the structure. We will accomplish this through this website, newspaper articles, museum exhibits, etc.
